News: Apparently, Manhunt 2 is still too hot for the UK.
Manhunt 2 received the A-OK from the ESRB in August and the game was quickly scheduled for an October 31st release. Take Two has since resubmitted the game to the British Board of Film Classification for a release in the UK and the BBFC has once again denied to give the game a rating.
While the BBFC acknowledges that some of the "execution kills" have been toned down, they're more concerned with Manhunt 2's "bleak and callous tone."
David Cooke, Director of the BBFC said: "We recognise that the distributor has made changes to the game, but we do not consider that these go far enough to address our concerns about the original version. The impact of the revisions on the bleakness and callousness of tone, or the essential nature of the gameplay, is clearly insufficient. There has been a reduction in the visual detail in some of the Сexecution kills', but in others they retain their original visceral and casually sadistic nature."
The BBFC has made suggestions to Take Two on how to change the game sufficiently to earn a ratings certificate. The BBFC also informed Take Two that the option to appeal this decision lies with them.
Manhunt 2 will be released for the PS2, PSP and Wii on October 31 in America. The game has no release date for the UK and if this rating ruckus is not resolved, the game may never be released in the UK.
