News: The Hollywood Reporter says a $399 PS3 is coming to US on November 2.

A 40GB PlayStation 3 is heading to the US on November 2 following the recent European release, says The Hollywood Reporter, citing unnamed industry sources. The report adds СSCEA has been dropping hints that stores should do all they can to clear out existing inventory in anticipation of the new model'.

The new 40GB model is said to cost $399 when it is released, and will have cut-down features. It will have two USB 2.0 ports (instead of four), no backwards compatibility for PS2 games and no multi memory card port. Key features like a HDMI port, Bluray and wireless Sixaxis are still included. The upcoming model will replace the current $499 60GB model when stocks run out.
