News: PlayStation 3 gamers unite to set a record in Guiness World Records.
More news from the Official PlayStation Blog this time comes in the form of Folding@home which has managed to work its way into Guinness World Records. The record set on September 16, 2007 (when Folding@home reached its first milestone, a petaflop) states that Folding@home is the most powerful distributed computing network in the world.
УTo have Folding@home recognized by Guinness World Records as the most powerful distributed computing network ever is a reflection of the extraordinary worldwide participation by gamers and consumers around the world and for that we are very grateful.Ф said Professor Pande, Associate Professor of Chemisty, Stanford University. УWithout them we would not be able to make the advancements we have made in our studies of several different diseases. But it is clear that none of this would be even remotely possible without the power of PS3, it has increased our research capabilities by leaps and bounds.Ф
It's good to see games in a good light of the news for once rather than being called out for corrupting today's youth. A congratulations from Gaming Target goes out to everyone who has helped with the Folding@home project.
