News: Further details on the game come from Hollywood's bible, Variety.

The reveal that a Ghostbusters game is officially in development was a welcome sight to many gamers and fellow children of the 80s. And last night Variety revealed a lot more information about the game that would be Ghostbusters III.

According to Variety, not only will Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray be reprising their roles, but Ernie Hudson as Winston, William Atherton as Walter Peck and Annie Potts as Janine will all be returning as well. Brian Doyle-Murray, who played a shrink in Ghostbusters II and is Bill's brother, will also lend his voice to the game.

The game, which takes place in the early '90s, will be published by Vivendi Games' Sierra label and is actually less than a year away. Variety pegs the release date as Fall 2008. The PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 version will be developed by the makers of Bloodrayne, Terminal Reality. The PS2, Wii and (not mentioned by Game Informer) DS versions will be done by Red Fly Studios, the team behind the upcoming Mushroom Men.

According to Variety, Vivendi Games performed a survey to find out just which movies gamers want to see turned into games and Ghostbusters was in the top five. Another Vivendi title, Scarface, was also in the top five. The Variety article also hints that Scarface II is also in development at Vivendi.

We'll have more on the Ghostbusters game soon.
