News: Harmonix details the first five weeks of downloadable content.

Harmonix has revealed the first wave of downloadable tracks for their new musical masterpiece, Rock Band. All songs will be available individually and many will be available in three song packs that are grouped by band or theme.

All of the individual songs are priced at $1.99 (or 160 Microsoft Points) with the three song packs going for $5.49 (or 440 Microsoft Points). Harmonix has said that individual songs will be priced from $0.99 to $2.99 in the future (or 80 to 240 Microsoft Points) but most will be sold at the $1.99/160 Points pricepoint.

The pricing scheme is actually very similar to Activision's pricing scheme for Guitar Hero II & III downloads which offers songs only in three song packs for 500 Microsoft Points.

The company has promised they will be releasing new songs weekly all throughout 2008. But missing from the launch window schedule is any mention of the full album downloads. As you'll recall, Harmonix stated that The Who's "Who's Next" album would be available "soon after Rock Band released." It appears that "soon" won't be until 2008, but hopefully we'll learn the release dates for full album downloads soon.

But here is Harmonix's downloadable track schedule for 2007:
