News: Side-scrolling shooter strategy game coming to America.
The January 2008 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (you know, the one with Street Fighter IV on the cover) has another big surprise for fans of strategy RPGs.
Irem's
R-Type Tactics, a strategy game based on the popular side-scrolling shooter was highlighted in EGM's "Foreign Object" column. Normally, the games seen in this column never come to American shores, but according to EGM, "We don't get to say this very often, but we recently learned this one's actually coming to America."
They didn't say when it would be coming, but a 2008 release seems likely.
While that's the good news, another game with a "sometime in 2008" release got a bit of bad news in the new EGM. In an article talking about the recent push for games to include level editors and other design options, EGM listed
LittleBigPlanet with a Fall 2008 release date. This seems to add some American weight to a similar timeframe posted on the Sony Europe-sponsored
ThreeSpeech blog we reported on earlier.
So when is LittleBigPlanet really coming out. Your guess is as good as mine, but Fall 2008 is looking more and more likely.
