News: Ten games in development across six franchises.
Electronic Arts has announced they've completed their acquisition of BioWare and Pandemic Studios. Both studios will now operate under the EA Games umbrella, and will be overseen by EA Games President Frank Gibeau.
УBioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios are two world-class studios and bring strong, highly compatible cultures of creative excellence to the EA Games Label,Ф Gibeau said. УTheir strengths in the RPG, action and adventure genres further broadens EA's portfolio, and reinforces our commitment to creating the world's greatest interactive entertainment.Ф
EA went on to say that BioWare and Pandemic are currently working on ten games for EA which take place across six different wholly-owned franchises. They did not give a timetable for these titles, but we do already know plenty about all ten of these projects.
BioWare is currently working on the PC RPG
Dragon Age as well as an
Untitled Next-Gen MMORPG. They have also hinted that Mass Effect will be a trilogy and that
Mass Effect 2 is already in pre-prodcution stages. And then there are those pesky
Jade Empire 2 rumors.
Meanwhile, Pandemic is working on
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames and
Saboteur for multiple consoles as well as four untitled games:
Project B, Project Q, Project Y and
Project Z.
EA also confirmed that BioWare is still working on the
Sonic the Hedgehog RPG for the DS for Sega.
We'll have more on everything coming out of Pandemic and BioWare as we learn it.
