News: Pikmin's Captain Olimar playable with plant buddies in Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Nintendo has announced that Captain Olimar and his Pikmin buddies from the Pikmin franchise have been added to the character roster of the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Nintendo Wii. The famed, clumsy captain will continue his pseudo symbiotic relationship with the plant-like creatures as they will continue to do his bidding. Throughout the gameplay Olimar will have to resupply his Pikmin ranks by picking them from the ground as they die off. The Olimar-Pikmin tag-team is more important to their success than the tandem Ice Climbers because without Pikmin in tow, Olimar cannot perform his powerful smash attack.
The addition of Captain Olimar brings the total amount of new characters in line with the amount of returning veterans for a sum of 24 playable characters. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is set for a North American launch on February 10 so there is a good chance that this will be the final playable character announced. Hopefully there remains a score of unlockable characters though.
