News: March 9 is the new release date for Nintendo's smashing series.
The Smash Bros. Dojo! has laid the smack down on Super Smash Bros. Brawl fans with its latest update. According to the site, the game's release date has been pushed back from February 10 to March 9. This is the second major delay for the game, its original release date was moved from early December to February.
Here's the official word from Masahiro Sakurai, the game's director:
Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we've had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th.
I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.
This predicament also means a delay for Mario Kart Wii has become much more likely. That game currently sports an unspecified "Spring 08" release date and with Super Smash Bros. Brawl intruding on the spring with its new release date, I can see Nintendo pushing it back to late summer or even the fall. Releasing two high profile games so close together is just not Nintendo's style.
We'll have more soon. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go cry into my pre-order slip...
