News: This is the biggest news ever.

Today's Super Smash Bros. Brawl update does not come from the Smash DOJO!! as usual. Instead, this news comes from Joystiq, who has gathered up various screenshots and news bits related to early release copies of the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Yes, Japanese gamers get all the luck. It semes they have discovered a variety of new characters, stages and Subspace Emissary bosses.

The following new characters have been confirmed to be a part of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl roster:

  • Captain Falcon (F-Zero)
  • Falco (Star Fox)
  • Ganondorf (Zelda: Twilight Princess)
  • Jigglypuff (Pokemon)
  • Lucario (Pokemon)
  • Luigi
  • Marth (Fire Emblem)
  • Mr. Game and Watch
  • Ness (Earthbound)
  • R.O.B.
  • Toon Link (Zelda: The Wind Waker)

R.O.B.'s inclusion as a playable racer in Mario Kart DS was a stroke of genius. Being able to fight as the NES robot buddy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is something beyond genius.

Several of the bosses from the Subspace Emissary story mode have also been discovered. They include:

  • Master Hand
  • Ridley (Metroid)
  • Subspace Emissary Robots
  • Tabuu (from Parts Unknown)

Finally, a new batch of stages has been uncovered. They include:

  • Classic Mario Bros.
  • F-Zero's Port Town
  • Link's Ship (From Zelda: Wind Waker)
  • Sonic's Green Hill Zone

Wow. Is it March 9th yet? Can it be March 9th soon? Somebody get Doc Brown on the phone...
