News: Get the whole Metal Gear Solid collection for a low low price.
For those that never got a chance to play the first three Metal Gear Solid games, does Konami have a deal for you. The company has announced they will be bringing a Metal Gear Solid collection to the PS2 on March 18 that they've dubbed "The Essential Collection."
The Essential Collection will include the PlayStation One version of Metal Gear Solid and PS2 discs of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. So if you've got a PS3 with no backwards compatibility, you'll be out of luck. All three games will include new packaging with artwork from Yoji Shinkawa. The first MGS even gets to upgrade from a lowly jewel case to a real DVD case.
"Since its inception, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the most successful game series in the history of video games, receiving worldwide recognition and praise," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. "Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection represents a great value for gamers, bringing together three must-have classic titles which pioneered the stealth action genre."
Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection will retail for $29.99.
