News: Walk this way to a store to pre-order it now.
We all had a good chuckle when Joe Perry started mumbling about an all-Aerosmith edition of Guitar Hero in an interview with Billboard a few months back. But it turns out that the guitar-playing half of the Toxic Twins will have the last laugh as Activision announced Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii today.
Development duties will once again be split up amongst several Activision companies (and one outside house) as Neversoft will be handling the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, Vicarious Visions is working on the Wii version and Budcat is creating the PS2 version.
A tracklist was not announced, but Activision did reveal that "Dream On" will be available as a free download to PS3 and Xbox 360 owners of Guitar Hero III this long weekend. It's assumed it will make it into Guitar Hero: Aerosmith as well. Several other songs were mentioned in the press release, so it is assumed they will be in the game as well:
Don't Want to Miss A Thing
Sweet Emotion
Love in an Elevator
All I know it that if "Walk This Way" and "Dude Looks Like a Lady" aren't on there as well, there will definitely be some jaded Aerosmith fans skipping this game.
The game will not be made up solely of Aerosmith songs though. Activision has said the setlist will also include "songs from celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way." Players will also get a chance to follow Aerosmith's career (hopefully without the drugs and booze) as the game will include many venues Aerosmith rocked in.
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is currently scheduled to be released this June. We'll have more soon.
