News: DualShock 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle, and a red PSP.
Finally, SCEA gets on the ball and tells us when we can expect some great things.
First up in Sony Computer Entertainment America's boatload of announcements is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and the announcement of a Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundle.
Sony has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4 will hit stores late in the second quarter. This jives well with the current rumored release date of June 12. But we are still awaiting official word from Kojima Productions and Konami.
The PS3 bundle will include a DualShock 3 controller, Metal Gear Solid 4, and an 80GB version of the PS3 at $499. The bundle will be released alongside Metal Gear Solid 4.
A blockbuster title, the "proper" controller, the PS3 with some backwards compatibility at 500 dollars? Not bad Sony.
Next we have news that all those who pre-order MGS4 will get access to the multiplayer beta for Metal Gear Online.
Then there is the release date for the standalone DualShock 3. This April, $54.95 will net you the controller that should have been with the system to start with. Better late than never I guess.
Last but not least is the announcement that in June we can expect a "Deep Red" PSP that will have a packed-in
God of War: Chains of Olympus,
Superbad UMD, and a free voucher for
Syphon Filter: Combat Ops from the PlayStation Store.
Not a bad way to start the middle of the year Sony.
