News: Play music with a Wiimote and stylus.
Disney has announced they will be bringing Ultimate Band to the Wii and DS in the fall. Ultimate Band will be a new kind of music game that will recreate drums, bass, guitar and the lead singer with the Wiimote and Nunchuk or the stylus. How Disney plans to turn a Wiimote into a microphone remains to be seen.
The game will be developed by Fall Line Studio and will include a song secltion of "classic rock to current hit singles" that covers "rock, alternative, popular, emo and indie rock music." Specific songs weren't announced just yet.
The DS version will also include a track creator that will allow players to "create their own original songs using the DS touchscreen and stylus to lay down tracks for each instrument and apply creative mixing effects."
"Ultimate Band invites kids, tweens and teens to join in the jam session," said Craig Relyea, senior vice president, global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. "And whether they choose guitar, drums, bass or front man, members don't need to buy costly, single-function peripherals to play their way through Ultimate Band's deep song list, dynamic venues, and customizable characters. The Wii Remote and DS stylus are the only tools they'll need to reach rock stardom in Ultimate Band."
Ultimate Band will also use Disney's Mii-like DGamer character creator. We'll have more soon.
