Damnation

News: Called a 'vertical shooter' by the company.

Codemasters has announced they will be publishing a new kind of shooter this fall. Dubbed Damnation, the game is being decsribed as a "vertical shooter" because of the emphasis on flying leaps. Damnation is being developed by Blue Omega and is scheduled to be released on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Damnation will be set in a wild west-themed world full of lawmen, ladies with skimpy armor and lunatic arms dealers. The game will include plenty of vertical acrobatics and "attacks that can come from any direction" including a thousand feet up.

Damnation will also attempt to create a truly open world by featuring levels that will take "up to three hours of actual gameplay" to explore fully. With so much ground to cover, the game will also supply the player with a variety of vehicles including motorbikes and tanks.

For those who want to take a look at what Damnation will look like, we have the first five screenshots available below. Just click on the screen for the full gallery:

Finally, Damnation will also include several different multiplayer modes. We'll have more soon.
