News: First Sabotage, now this.
A few weeks ago, Gamecock and Replay Studios had to change the name of their upcoming World War II game Sabotage to Velvet Assassin. The reason for the name change was not given, but it was widely assumed to be because Pandemic is also developing a World War II stealth game titled Saboteur. And now it looks like Gamecock might have to do the name warp all over again.
In this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, a short blurb in the news section reveals that ABC has picked up a new show for the fall titled Section 8. You see where this is going? Gamecock and TimeGate Studios also has a game in the pipeline titled Section 8.
According to EW, the show is being created by Zak Penn (writer of X-Men: The Last Stand) and will be about a secret government agency. Gamecock's Section 8 will be about a futuristic war involving an elite military unit.
Cause for confusion? Possibly. But the question remains, will Gamecock have the... ahem... to keep the Section 8 name? We'll see.
