News: Top-down shooter series reborn on the download services.

The words "Oh, hell yeah!" are rarely used in their correct context. But today, IGN brings word that Capcom is remaking the arcade classic 1942 for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. The remake will be released sometime this summer. Say it with me, "Oh, hell yeah!"

Joint Strike will feature enhanced 3D graphics will still maintaining the 2D top-down play style. The game is also being converted to display a true widescreen picture. None of this "arcade border" stuff for 1942: Joint Strike. A reworked score will also be supplied by Norihiko Hibinio (Metal Gear Solid).

While the game is a remake of 1942, it will include the multiple weapons (including the 3-Way Shot and the Laser) and boss battles from 1943.

Online and offline cooperative play will also be available and a "Joint Strike Meter" will be included that will allow both players to create devastating tag team attacks on the enemy.

1942: Joint Strike is being developed by Backbone Entertainment and will be available for $9.99 (or 800 Microsoft Points) when it is finally released.
