News: $7.99 download adds a new map and a vehicle.
Operation: Broken Mirror, the second Warhawk add-on, makes its way to the PlayStation Store on Thursday, April 17. The $7.99 download includes an expected (and much anticipated) snow-themed battlefield called Vaporfield Glacier. It's the only really big environment type that was missing from Warhawk when the standalone game launched last August and the first booster pack, Operation: Omega Dawn, landed in December.
While you pretend to reenact the beginning of Star Wars: The Empire Strike's Back with Hoth-style fighting scenes in your Warhawk, you'll be aided by a new vehicle type: Armored Personnel Carriers. APCs have room for a driver and six troop passengers who shoot from pop-up hatches. They also acts as a mobile spawning point, activate a shield called an E-Pod (your troops can shoot out, but enemies can't shoot through), and include a boost ability so you can either speed through the small-to-medium map layouts of Vaporfield Glacier or ram other vehicles.
Just like when the first booster pack added the Combat Dropship to the original Warhawk maps, the second boost pack contains bonus layouts of old maps so that they support the new APC vehicle, too. The
PlayStation.Blog gives you an overview of the upcoming Vaporfield Glacier map layouts, while that page's video (below) shows off everything you can expect from Operation: Broken MirrorЧbasically everything I just told you in moving picture form.
Check back around April 17 for another booster pack review like our first boost pack
review of Warhawk: Operation: Omega Dawn.
