News: And announces six versions of MotoGP 08.
Last year, Capcom acquired the rights to the MotoGP racing series on PlayStation platforms and released MotoGP 07 for the PS2. This year, the company has decided to go all in and has acquired the license across all platforms through the year 2012. The license for the series on the Xbox and PC platforms was previously held by THQ.
The compnay then wasted no time by announcing MotoGP 08 for the PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360 and PC. The racer currently does not have a developer or a relese date, but is likely coming sometime in 2008 (owing to the "08" in the title and all).
УWe are very excited to have signed this long term agreement with Dorna Sports, which for the first time grants one publisher worldwide multi-platform rights to the adrenaline fuelled world of MotoGP,Ф said Mark Beaumont, executive vice president, officer and head of Capcom's consumer software publishing in the Americas and Europe. УWe feel this move to a single publisher will greatly benefit our ability to develop titles that deliver more authenticity and excitement to the consumer.Ф
УCapcom has already shown its ability to deliver a title that captures the essence of MotoGP and we look forward to working with them over the next five years,Ф said Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports.
We'll have more soon.
