News: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is back, except now he's not so friendly.
Another year, another Spider-Man title (although last year we got two). Activision has announced that Spider-Man: Web of Shadows will be coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, DS, Wii and PC this fall. Treyarch (who developed Spider-Man 3) and Shaba Games will share development duties.
Like the previous Spider-Man games (except for last year's Friend or Foe), Web of Shadows will feature New York City recreated as a free-roaming virtual sandbox. Spidey will be able to websling anywhere and fight enemies on the ground as need be, but Web of Shadows will also feature a new emphasis on fighting enemies in the air while webslinging. The game will also make use of a morality system where Spider-Man can be a do-gooder superhero or a Venom-like anti-hero that only looks out for himself.
Web of Shadows expands the threat beyond New York City as the black ooze of the Symbiote has covered the city and is threatening to take over the world. Because of this increased threat, multiple Marvel heroes and villains will appear in Web of Shadows to both aid and attack Spider-Man.
