News: Are you ready to play as the biggest lips in rock and roll?

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick recently sat down with Conde Nast Portfolio for an interview for their May 2008 issue and he revealed a possibly huge bit of information about future entries in the Guitar Hero franchise: they'll feature vocals and other instruments. Here's the quote from the article:

Where do you take the idea next?

It's not just about guitars. We'll include a lot of other instruments, vocals. It will help us expand internationally. It's the first game we've had in which we can use local content and local bands.
With the success of Rock Band, having Guitar Hero branch out into other instruments seems like a logical step. Kotick did not say whether these new features would be added to Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (which is coming this Summer) or Guitar Hero IV (which is coming this fall), but they are coming.

This news also adds an interesting wrinkle to the BestBuy.com page that previously hinted at drum and vocal options in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. The mention of drums and vocals has since been edited out, but if Guitar Hero: Aerosmith does expand beyond just guitars, it will have been the worst kept secret ever.
