News: Use your PS2 guitars on your PS3.

The Ant Commandos, a company who specializes in creating wireless music game peripherals and accessories, has released their PlayStation 2 to PlayStation 3 controller adapter. It will be available in stores for $19.99.

According to the company, while there have been other PS2-to-PS3 controller adapters before, the adapter from The Ant Commandos is the only one that works with all of the major PS2 guitar controllers in both Guitar Hero III and Rock Band. With this adapter, making the jump from the PS2 to the PS3 no longer requires purchasing new guitar controllers.

The Ant Commandos have said the following guitars are confirmed to work with the adapter:

  • All PS2 The Ant Commandos guitars
  • Red Octane and Activision's SG Controller
  • Red Octane and Activision's Kramer Wireless
  • Nyko's Frontman guitar
  • DreamGear Shredster
  • All React guitars
  • All Psyclone guitars

The adapter will also work with many other unlisted guitars and regular PS2 controllers.
