News: More Guitar Hero games than you can shake a stick at.
Activision Blizzard held an "Analyst Day" yesterday to talk about some of their future projects with the financial community and in the process confirmed a lot of cool stuff.
First, they revealed that Infinity Ward, the creators of the Call of Duty series and the developer behind Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, are hard at work on Call of Duty 6. No other details were revealed, except for the release date, sort of. In one part of the presentation, Activision CEO Mike Griffith announced a 2009 release, but in another part of it, a 2010 release date was announced.
Not surprisingly, Activision Blizzard announced that a ton of new Guitar Hero games are also on the way. The company went so far as to say that in 2009 they plan to double the number of Guitar Hero games released, while in 2010 they plan to triple it.
For the record, four Guitar Hero games were released (or will be released) in 2008: Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: On Tour, Guitar Hero: World Tour and Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades. Which means the company may release eight Guitar Hero games next year and twelve (or one a month) in 2010. Wow.
But record companies will no doubt appreciate the increased exposure their artists will get in Guitar Hero as Activision also used the Analyst Day to tout the fact that songs included in Guitar Hero get a 200 to 300% boost in sales.
We'll have more soon.
