News: Oasis for Guitar Hero, Nirvana for Rock Band

A pair of dueling downloadable song announcements today have come out of both the Rock Band and Guitar Hero camps.

Harmonix has announced that they will begin offering a Nirvana Pack next week that contains seven songs. The entire pack will cost $10.99 (or 880 Microsoft Points) with individual songs weighing in at 1.99 (or 160 Microsoft Points) each. The songs, which will work in both Rock Band and Rock Band 2, are:

  • Breed
  • Lounge Act
  • On a Plain
  • Polly
  • Something in the Way
  • Stay Away
  • Territorial Pissings

Not to be outdone, Activision has announced that Guitar Hero: World Tour will receive an Oasis Pack on November 6 containing three songs from the band's newest album: "Bag it Up", "Waiting for the Rapture" and "The Shock of the Lightning". A price was not announced, but the songs will be offered as a Pack and individually. They also announced that the full album of Dig Out Your Soul will be available sometime in 2009. All of the songs will be offered individually as well.
