News: Richard B. Riddick has found a home.
Another game that was lost in the shuffle of the Activision/Vivendi merger has found a new home. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, developed by Starbreeze, will now be published by Atari. Previously on track for a late 2008 release, the game will now be on store shelves for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Spring 2009. Atari also announced that a PC version of the game is in development as well, also scheduled for a Spring 2009 release.
Assault on Dark Athena is an expanded and enhanced remake of
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, which was originally released for the PC and Xbox in 2004. The remake will include the full original game along with a brand new single-player campaign (titled, obviously, Assault on Dark Athena) and online multiplayer mode.
In Assault on Dark Athena, Riddick plans to turn the tables on the mercenaries and take them on directly:
In The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena the player takes on the role of Riddick, as played by Vin Diesel, using stealth and action to overcome the merciless crew of the predatory Merc-ship Dark Athena which awaits its prey in the dark reaches of space. Cheating death through a series of spectacular battles and events, Riddick will fight for his life amid a storm of malevolence and horror. The Chronicles of Riddick series of games takes the player deeper into the universe of Universal Pictures' films The Chronicles of Riddick and cult classic Pitch Black, which first introduced Vin Diesel as enigmatic anti-hero Riddick.
We'll have more soon.
