News: And Nintendo sells 2 million Wii consoles.
The NPD Group has released their report on the bestselling games and consoles in November and it looks like two sequels sit atop the list with more than a million copies sold. Gears of War 2 sold 1.56 million copies and Call of Duty: World at War sold 1.41 million copies. After that, Nintendo's trio of Wii powerhouses, Wii Play, Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii continue their stranglehold on the third, fourth and fifth slots.
For those scoring at home, it's interesting to note that the Xbox 360's three games in the top ten (Gow2, CoD:WaW and Left 4 Dead) sold just as many copies as every PS3 game combined.
On the console front, the holiday shopping season is definitely in full swing as the Wii sold over 2 million units, the DS more than 1.5 million and the Xbox 360 more than 800,000. The PSP and PS3 each sold around 400,000 units.
