News: Play this unique beat-'em-up as indie Wolfire prepares for Overgrowth release
On December 24th this year, Wolfire Games is giving away free copies of their unique action game, Lugaru. All you have to do to get the free game is join this Facebook Event and become a fan of Overgrowth, an upcoming game from the same company. Do that, and Wolfire will send you a key to unlock the full game on the 24th.
Lugaru is a melee action game featuring hand-to-hand and weapon-based combat. It uses a detailed, context-driven combat system that recognizes what weapon you and your opponent are using and allows you to react accordingly. With this system, you can block and dodge incoming attacks and then strike back with an appropriate counterattack. The game is set in a world where human-like rabbits run the show. You control Turner, a ninja rabbit who's not only out to avenge the deaths of his family and village, but also to uncover corruption and a conspiracy that threatens to undermine the rabbit republic. Who would have thought that a rabbit's life was so complicated? Or that they know kung fu?
Not much is known about Overgrowth at this point, except that it is a sequel to Lugaru and will probably once again place Turner into a world in turmoil that will require him to stretch his martial arts muscles. Gaming Target will keep you posted with news about Overgrowth as it develops.
Wolfire Games is an independent development studio founded in 2003 by David Rosen. In addition to several free-to-play games available through their website, Wolfire has released Lugaru. Overgrowth is projected for a Spring 2009 release.
