News: Or does it?

According to video game sales tracking VGChartz, Wii Sports has become the bestselling video game of all time. According to the site, Wii Sports has reached worldwide sales of 40.52 million copies, surpassing Super Mario Bros.', the previous record holder, sales of 40.24 million copies.

But wait just a minute, Wii Sports is included with every Wii console sold (outside of Japan that is), so does it really count? VGChartz says yes, and part of their reasoning is that Super Mario Bros. sold as many copies as it did because it was a pack-in title for the NES.

Going down the VGChartz list of all-time bestsellers produces a variety of pack-in games (Tetris for the original Game Boy, Super Mario World for the SNES) and special cases (all of the different versions of Nintendogs are counted as one game). The biggest seller that's not a pack-in game or a special case is actually Wii Play, which has sold 19.68 million copies since its release.
