Special: What we loved from 2008.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
Platforms: PC
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Developer: EA Mythic
Release Date: September 16, 2008

"Mythic Entertainment may have created the best MMORPG based on an outside property. The universe of Warhammer fits perfectly into a game of this nature, and was implemented by the folks at Mythic with precision and dedication. Mythic announced last week that MMORPG would be getting its first content patch sometime in December, introducing two classes that were cut shortly before launch. If you are an MMORPG player and enjoy the brutal fantasy setting then Warhammer is definitely for you, and there is no time to start like the present. WAAAGH!" - Patrick Mulhern

Wii Fit
Platform: Wii
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Nintendo
Release Date: May 21, 2008

"If you're in the market for a new fun way to exercise that helps break the occasional monotony of working out at the gym, look no further than Wii Fit. Sure it's not going to make you the next Arnold or make you a prime candidate for America's Next-Top Model, but it does its job as a tool; just like any other free weight/treadmill/whatever exercise equipment you own. It won't replace any previous forms of exercise, but it will enhance it and give you a general guideline on what you should do and need to do. In addition, who knows maybe it'll help that couch potato in your family become interested in exercise, after all no one likes being called a fat lazy slobЕ.unless of course you take pride in it." - Jason Young

The Wonderful End of the World
Platform: PC
Publisher: Dejobaan Games
Developer: Dejobaan Games
Release Date: January 25, 2008

"In an industry that's dominated by major corporations and never-ending strings of blockbuster sequels, it's great to run into a fun, imaginative game from a smaller company. The latest release from Dejobaan Games, The Wonderful End of the World certainly fits this description. It looks good, plays well, and has a great soundtrack. And it gives you the chance to play a walking collection of houses. Or buses. Or any other object that you can scoop up and make a part of your ever-growing Уbody.Ф" - Jason Cisarano

The World Ends With You
Platform: DS
Publisher: Square-Enix
Developer: Square-Enix
Release Date: April 22, 2008

"In what I can only chalk up to irony, the fact that The World Ends with You is an experimental RPG more than fits in with the overall tone of the game which is sort of a coming out of your shell tale. The game is a teenage, Emo, Japoholic's wet dream. By mixing cell phones, music, fashion, and life lessons together, the game is basically a much hipper version of your teenage years." - Kris Rosado
