News: DS brawler should make Double Dragon fans very happy in March.

Atlus has announced they want to revive the beat 'em up genre with Tokyo Beat Down on the DS.

Like the classic beat 'em ups of old, Tokyo Beat Down will deliver a gangland tale of street justice where cops decide that the crime has gone too far and the only way to stop it is to put fist to face on the mean streets:

Who has it within them to rise up against the ever growing threat of violence, crime, and terrorism on the streets of Tokyo? Enter the Beast Cops, tireless servants of justice. These men and women struggle night and day for the heart of the city. They'll match any villain punch for punch, kick for kick, bullet for bullet. They're Beast Cops because they will do whatever it takes, pay any price, inflict as much damage as necessary, in order to restore peace and security to the streets of Tokyo.

Tokyo Beat Down will also include a "badass '70s cop show vibe", a variety of weapons (from "handguns to rocket launchers") and a nod to modern game design with three unique playable characters and a branching storyline that could end in disaster for the Beast Cops as the "ultimate crime boss" could escape.

Tokyo Beat Down has been rated T For Teen and is scheduled for release on March 10 for a retail price of $29.99.
