News: Take the fight to Cobra this Summer.
When Transformers became a live action movie hit a few years ago, it was only a matter of time before its 80s cartoon counterpart, G.I. Joe, got the live action treatment as well. And unsurprisingly, when G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra storms theaters this Summer it will also arrive with a video game adaptation courtesy of Electronic Arts.
The game will be released this Augsust for the DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360. Unlike many movie-based games, it won't be a direct adaptation, but instead will take place after the events of the movie. According to EA, some of the levels will even be based on events from the cartoon series. Players will also be able to control 12 different G.I. Joe soldiers (with their own unique weapons and abilities) in both single player sotry mode and a two-player co-op story mode.
EA plans to introduce the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra game to the world at the 2009 Toy Fair, which takes place this weekend in New York City.
Oh, and if you haven't seen the trailer for the movie yet, check it out here. It makes me giddy.
We'll have more soon.
