News: At least for now.
After Monday's reveal of Lost Planet 2 on Xbox Live, Capcom promised an official announcement on Wednesday. Well, the announcement has been released and it includes a surprising bit of news: Lost Planet 2 is currently an Xbox 360 exclusive.
The original Lost Planet was first released for the Xbox 360 before being ported to the PC and PlayStation 3. With Capcom's new commitment to multiplatform releases, it's likely that Lost Planet 2 won't stay exclusive to the Xbox 360 forever. But as of right now, Microsoft's system will be the only place to play the upcoming game.
As Monday's trailer showed us, Lost Planet 2 will take place a decade after the first game and will no longer star Wayne Holden. Instead, players will battle through the game's levels (which now include jungles and other environments) in a shoes of a variety of playable characters. Each character will have their own story path that will eventually converge at the end.
Lost Planet 2 will also include a four player co-op mode and new Akrid enemies. Thankfully, the grappling hook will make a return to help dispatch these enemies along with other new weaponry and special moves.
Capcom did not announce a release date for Lost Planet 2, but did promise they would reveal more about the game soon.
