News: 'Through the Fire and Flames' with a full band!
After announcing it during their quarterly financial report, Activision has revealed a few more details about the upcoming Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits. First, it's coming to the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 this June and it will be developed by Beenox. Second, the "Greatest Hits" moniker currently only applies to the Xbox 360 and Wii versions. According to the company, "Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits" is just a working title for the PS2/PS3 versions. Could this mean Sony has secured some exclusive bonus features? Anything's possible.
The game will include 48 songs (all master recordings featuring the original artist) pulled from Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s. Of course, the songs will all be recreated to take advantage of the full band kit including guitar, bass, drums and microphone.
Greatest Hits will also feature all of the modes found in Guitar Hero: World Tour such as Band Career, Rock Star Creator and the 8-player "Battle of the Bands," which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online. It will also include access to the GHTunes music sharing service and the Music Studio song creator. The Expert+ difficulty setting, first seen in
Guitar Hero: Metalica, will also make an encore appearance in Greatest Hits.
Activision has also revealed the first eight tracks that will make up the 48 song setlist:
Alice in Chains - "Them Bones"
Queen - "Killer Queen"
Poison - "Nothin' But A Good Time"
Rage Against The Machine - "Killing in the Name"
Twisted Sister - "I Wanna Rock"
Joan Jett and The Blackhearts - "I Love Rock N Roll"
Heart - "Barracuda"
Dragonforce - "Through the Fire and Flames"
Finally, here are the first eight screenshots.
We'll have more on Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits (or whatever it ends up being called on Sony systems) soon.
