News: "Still a few years away" says George Miller.

Almost a year ago to the day, Mad Max director George Miller and God of War II director Cory Barlog revealed they were working on a video game based on Miller's unfilmed Mad Max: Fury Road script. MTV News got in touch with Miller to see what progress has been made on the game in the 363 days since.
It turns out, there hasn't been a whole lot of progress at all.
Looking over the interview, it sounds like Miller and Barlog are still in the conceptual planning stages of the game. Which Miller more or less confirms when he says that the game is still a few years away:
MTV News: What kind of game do you have in mind?
George Miller: It's a hybrid game. I'm really interested in both the game-play but the actual emotional engagement. I'm curious how much you can engage with the characters through the game-play. It's an opportunity to make a novel.
MTV News: Timeline?
Miller: I've got a couple of years left. We're in the early stages writing and designing. A really good game you need two and half years. And for good anime you need two years.
While this is pretty standard boilerplate for a game that's early in development, the truly interesting revelation is that the Mad Max 4 movie that will accompany the game will be an R-rated 3D anime feature film.
Being able to share assets between a CGI movie and the upcoming game will definitely speed along the development process.
Oh, and Mel Gibson is still now involved in the production of the movie or the game.
We'll have more soon.
