News: At least according to a recent interview in BestLife magazine.

BestLife magazine has an interview with hip-hop mogul Jay-Z in their April 2009 issue and a small sentence talking about Jay-Z's busy schedule may have announced his entrance into the video game world:

He is relaxing after a typically jam-packed day that included a photo shoot, an interview, and a meeting about his potential involvement in a forthcoming video game.

Notice the words "potential involvement", so obviously, nothing is set in stone. But it wouldn't be the first time a rapper has moved into the video game world. Just look at 50 Cent and his recent game 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand and the recent announcement that Snoop Dogg will be bringing his music to Rock Band.

While Jay-Z may be going the Rock Band route as well (Harmonix has long said they want to expand the number of genres on offer in the Rock Band Store), a violent quest for a crystal skull a la 50 Cent doesn't seem his style either. He even talks in the interview how he shies away from physical violence now, preferring to leave "battles" in the fictional realm of his rapping.

Personally, looking at the pictures in the BestLife article, I can easily see Jay-Z taking on the role of a debonoir James Bond villain in one of Activision's upcoming Bond games. Just remember, this is speculation on my part and not confirmation of anything.

Video games would just be one more feather in Jay-Z's cap, as the BestLife article talks about the rest of his business empire that includes clothing, fragrances, the New Jersey Nets, sports bars, liquor, and hotels.

We'll have more soon.
