News: 'One' XBLA game for $40? Are you insane?

Microsoft has launched their six week "Days of Arcade" Xbox Live Arcade promotion with the release of Hasbro Family Game Night. Hasbro Family Game Night is actually four separate games, each with their own allotment of 200 Achievement Points and all based on classic Hasbro board games.

The four board games available in Hasbro Family Game Night are Battleship, Connect Four, Scrabble and Yahtzee. In addition to the classic board game, each title includes online and offline multiplayer and bonus Advanced and Party modes.

If you're curious how the separate games and Gamerscore thing works, it's like this. After downloading the Hasbro Family Game Night client, the individual games can be downloaded for 800 Microsoft Points ($10) each. These games are then played in the client's virtual game room, that can be decorated with furniture earned by playing the individual board games. So to take part in the complete Hasbro Family Game Night experience, players would have to shell out $40.

If that sounds extraordinarily high for an Xbox Live Arcade game, you'd be right. Hasbro Family Game Night was originally released for the PlayStation 2 and Wii in November for a price of $40 and it included all four of the XBLA board games in addition to Boggle, Sorry! and Sorry! Sliders (which will be released on the Xbox Live Arcade sometime in the next few months).
