News: While it doesn't measure up to Halo 3's launch, it's an impressive debut for the first spinoff of the series.
Getting a jump on next month's NPD top ten list, Microsoft has announced that Halo Wars, the first real time strategy spinoff of the Halo series, has sold over one million copies worldwide.
While one million is a nice round number, if you really love numbers you're going to want to take a look at the Global Stats page on the Official Halo Wars Community Site. There you'll see such amazing stats such as the fact that players have played almost 3 million multiplayer matches across all game types) accounting for over 125 years of playtime.
Finally, Microsoft has confirmed that more Halo Wars content is on the way. It is being developed by Robot Entertainment, a development team made up of former members of Ensemble Studios (who were the team behind Halo Wars). It's unknown whether it this additional content will be downloadable maps, an expansion or a full fledged sequel, but more Halo Wars is definitely coming.
We'll have more soon.
