News: This is truly sad news, as it's a fantastic idea.
ZAM Media, a community site for Massively Multiplayer Online games, has NOT announced that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Online will be released on December 21, 2012.
The game will sport five classes: the Ninja Rat, the Reporter, the Sport Vigilante the Ninja Turtle and the Dark Legion of Dark Forces. Also, "TMNT Online will be the first MMO to entirely scrap the notion of experience points. Players will be able to purchase "turtle power" from the turtle store for a monetary fee; players can then 'use' the turtle power by yelling "Cowabunga" into their microphone to gain bonuses like 'vision,' and 'movement' for five minutes."
More, including some fantastic looking fake screenshots can be found at ZAM.com.
April Fool's Day Rating: Funny, but painfully so.
This is a great gag and I applaud ZAM for creating those fantastic screenshots. But this one cuts deep. This is a fantastic idea and there are enough mutants running around the TMNT universe that a create-your-own-mutant MMORPG would be serious fun.
Someone needs to make this a reality. But sadly, the owners of the TMNT license, Ubisoft, don't seem to be one for MMORPGs.
