Ubisoft has launched the teaser website for Assassin's Creed 2 at Ubi.com. All the site currently contains is a teaser trailer for the game, but it reveals several very important clues about the game.
The trailer opens by showing images from Leonardo da Vinci's drawings including anatomical drawings of the human brain and body. Other images include a series of tables and the anatomy of a bird's wing. An image depicting a hidden arm blade (obviously not one of Da Vinci's) is interspersed with the Da Vinci drawings. The teaser closes by Da Vinci's "The Vitruvian Man" morphing into a drawing of a winged figure.
From these clues we can guess that Assassin's Creed 2 likely takes place in Renaissance-era Italy during Da Vinci's life (1452-1519). This is consistent with Da Vinci's connection to the Knights Templar in works of fiction, such as The Da Vinci Code. The images of the brain and bird's wing are likely hints that the Animus and the Eagle Vision of the first game will return. Finally, the winged figure is possibly a reference to Baphomet, a demon that the Knights Templar were rumored to worhip.
But until Ubisoft reveals more, these are just theories. If you want to see the teaser trailer for yourself, it can be found below:
