News: Star Trek: D-A-C is a space shooter based on the upcoming franchise reboot.

The new Star Trek movie has generated a ton of talk on the Internet among both Trekkies and non-Trekkies, but there was never any talk of a game adaptation, until now. Paramount Digital Entertainment and and Naked Sky Entertainment have announced that they will be bringing Star Trek: D-A-C to the PC, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

Instead of a straight conversion, the arcade nature of the PSN and XBLA has inspired Paramount to create Star Trek: D-A-C as a top-down team-based space shooter. The game will allow players to take command of three different ship types used by the Federation or the Romulan Empire: the powerful Flagship (including the new U.S.S. Enterprise featured in the movie), the nimble Fighter and the devastating Bomber. With these ships, players can compete in three different game modes in single player, online multiplayer and online co-op:

  • Team Deathmatch: Teams go head-to-head in a winner-takes-all fight to the finish
  • Conquest: Teams must protect and conquer Control Points in space
  • Assault: Teams take turns trying to dominate or defend a sector of space

Star Trek: D-A-C will available to download on the Xbox Live Arcade in May for 800 Microsoft Points ($10) with PC and PlayStation Network versions coming at a "to be announced" date, also for $10.
