News: Ubisoft's first person sworder gets Wii MotionPlus support and a Winter 2009 release date.

Teased as far back as 2007, Ubisoft has officially announced that Red Steel 2 will be coming to the Wii this Winter. The sequel to the Wii launch title will once again be developed by Ubisoft Paris.

Little was revealed about the game, but Ubisoft did confirm that it would make full use of the Wii MotionPlus add-on that will be released this Summer for more accurate sword and gunplay. The game is also making a leap from modern day California and Japan to a futuristic wild west metropolis.

УRed Steel was a unique opportunity for Ubisoft to work in tandem with Nintendo to create a title exclusively for the launch of the Wii console," said John Parkes, EMEA marketing director at Ubisoft. "Red Steel 2 is another milestone for the company as it is the first Ubisoft title with full Wii MotionPlus integration.Ф

Red Steel 2 will be more fully unveiled in the June 2009 issue of Nintendo Power. The magazine has a preview of the cover (and a first look at the gunslinging protagonist) available at NintendoPower.com.

We'll have more soon.
