News: The joke's on us, the rumors are true.

There's a saying among comic book fans that Batman could defeat any foe... "if he's prepared." However, it appears The Dark Knight was unprepared for the June 23 release date of the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 game Batman: Arkham Asylum as it has been delayed by publisher Eidos Interactive.

The company had this to say about the delay:

Eidos Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment can today confirm that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be released at the end of summer 2009. This additional time will allow us to ensure Batman: Arkham Asylum is of the highest quality for gamers."

While Eidos did not say whether the company's recent acquisition by Square-Enix had anything to do with the delay, it's entirely possible.

We'll have more soon.
