News: Majesco's five-course series serves up more than 4 million units domestically.
The thing about cooking in large quantities is that the food often turns out to be bland and inedible. That's not so in the case of Cooking Mama, which Majesco announced has surpassed four million copies sold based on the gaming recipe of developer Cooking Mama Limited.
So far, there've been five Mama games: two Cooking Mama's on Nintendo DS and two more on the Wii plus one additional Gardening Mama game on the DS. The "Everyone" ESRB rating of each game along with the price point of $29.99 or less no doubt had a large role in the interactive series' success.
"We are thrilled to reach this significant milestone. Majesco's #1 franchise continues to resonate with gamers of all ages and genders," said Jesse Sutton, Chief Executive Officer, Majesco. "We will continue to explore ways to expand the Mama brand with innovative and compelling products that offer new entertainment experiences."
What does all of this mean? We can expect more Cooking Mama games in the future and for "Mama" to venture out of the kitchen more, as was the case in Gardening Mama. Let's just hope that it's something more innovative than Laundry Mama.
