News: Horror series gets the iPhone treatment.

Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil series has infected the iPhone/iPod Touch with the addition of Resident Evil: Degeneration to the Apple App Store.

Degeneration is based on the direct-to-DVD movie of the same name released earlier this year and places players in the shoes of Leon S. Kennedy. To help tell this story, Capcom has packed the game with a variety of in-engine cutscenes. Or you can read our review of the DVD right here.

Using the on-screen Multi-Touch controls, players control Leon with a virtual analog stick in the left corner and context-sensitive action buttons on the right. The over-the-shoulder viewpoint is actually very similar to Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. Accelerometer functionality is also included to simulate reloading (tilt the iPhone) and pushing away a zombie (shake the iPhone).

Resident Evil: Degeneration is now available for $6.99 from the App Store. We'll have more soon.
