News: Wiimakes of Prime 1 and Prime 2 are together in one package with Prime 3.

Nintendo has announced they will be bringing Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes to the Wii, but they won't be part of the New Play Control! series. Instead, all three games will be compiled onto a single Wii disc dubbed Metroid Prime Trilogy. The game will retail for $49.99 (the price each of the games debuted at when they were new) and it will be released on August 24.

The first two Metroid Prime games, originally released on the GameCube, will be added to this collection more or less unchanged (including the splitscreen multiplayer mode from Metroid Prime 2). However, the games will now sport the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls found in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption along with a new widescreen presentation.

All three games in the trilogy will be instantly accessible from the game's Start Screen without the need to unlock anything. But, another enhancement Nintendo plans to add is a new unlockables system that will give players in-game rewards such as music and artwork by accomplishing objectives across all three games.

Metroid Prime Trilogy was developed by Retro Studios, the same team behind the original GameCube releases of Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3 on the Wii.

We'll have more soon.
