News: The family-friendly retelling of Aragorn's greatest adventures.
Warner Bros. Interactive snapped up the rights to the Lord of the Rings trilogy (books and movies) after EA released Lord of the Rings: Conquest earlier this year. Well, Warner Bros. has wasted no time and announced they will be bringing Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest to the DS, PlayStation 2, PSP and Wii this Fall.
The game will be a two-player family-friendly adventure that takes place entirely in flashback. After the War of the Ring, Samwise Gamgee is telling tales of the great Aragorn and Gandalf the Grey/White. All of these tales will come from the LOTR trilogy and allow players to experience the battles for themselves. In a family-friendly way of course. Actually, the game sounds more than a little like a Lego Lord of the Rings game, just wihtout the Lego part:
In The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest, preparations are underway in Hobbiton for a great party to welcome Aragorn, King of Gondor, and honour Samwise Gamgee for his service during the War of the Ring. The children of the town are eager to learn more of this great man and so Samwise, now Mayor, embarks on a tale of the revered warrior, StriderЧas Aragorn is known in his Ranger days - and his most valiant battles. Players assume the role of Aragorn and embark on his greatest quests from The Lord of the Rings trilogy as they wield his sword, bow or spear on foot and on horseback through an action-packed gameplay experience. On the Wii platform, two-player co-op gameplay featuring Gandalf will allow kids, families and friends to work together in the heart of the action.
The Wii version of Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest will be developed by Headstrong Games (the makers of the very family-unfriendly
House of the Dead: Overkill), while the DS, PS2 and PSP versions will be developed by TT Fusion.
We'll have more soon.
