News: And it will star Raiden.
Microsoft's E3 2009 Press Conference has just ended and possibly the biggest announcement to come out of it is Metal Gear Solid: Rising. The game will mark the first time a Metal Gear game has come to the Xbox 360. Although no release date was announced, so when the first Metal Gear game will hit the Xbox 360 is still a mystery.
Not much else was revealed about the game, although Konami did say that the game would star Raiden, the star of Metal Gear Solid 2. He was last seen in Metal Gear Solid 4 as a ninja cyborg helping regular series protagonist Solid Snake.
Most telling of all is that no where in the announcement does it say that Metal Gear Solid: Rising is only in development for the Xbox 360. Expect a PlayStation 3 version to be announced sometime in the near future.
"The Metal Gear Solid series is one of the most highly acclaimed video game franchises of all time," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "With Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the Xbox 360 community will finally get a chance to enjoy the action and excitement that this popular franchise is known to offer."
We'll have more soon.
UPDATE: The European press release confirms that Metal Gear Solid: Rising will be developed by Kojima Productions.
