There are benefits to staying up past 1 AM and watching mindless comedy shows. Viewers of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on NBC got a chance to see a brand new Project Natal demo: Burnout Paradise. It's a game most people are familiar with and probably own, but haven't played or seen using motion controls.
Microsoft's creative director of Project Natal, Kudo Tsunado, began by demoing the device's custom-built box smashing game, which he called a 3D Breakout. After host Jimmy Fallon, The Office's John Krasinski actor Stephen Moyer tried it out, Tsunado moved on to applying the motion controls to Burnout Paradise, which released for Xbox 360 2008, sans any motion controls. While he noted that Natal wasn't built for this already-released game, the controls worked as you would expect. You hold your hands like you're gripping a steering wheel and put your foot forward to accelerate or backward to apply the breaks.
The entire segment seemed like a lot of fun, especially the unnecessary, but futuristic-looking orange jumpsuits. Maybe Project Natal will be the spark that causes everyone to wear silver, v-neck jump suits seen in all futuristic movies.
