News: With a standalone Green Day game hinted at.
Harmonix has officially announced that a three-song Green Day Track Pack will be added to the Rock Band Store. For those that don't know, lead singer Billy Joe Armstrong accidentally revealed the band's Rock Band ambitions a few days ago during a radio interview.
The Green Day pack will be added to the Rock Band Store on July 7th and will include three songs from the band's new album, 21st Century Breakdown: "21 Guns", "Know Your Enemy" and "East Jesus Nowhere". And prepare to weep Guitar Hero fans, Harmonix also announced they are entering into an exclusive partnership with Green Day that will include this Track Pack and "additional songs and projects."
"Projects" is likely video game marketing speak for something a bit more substantial than another three-song Track Pack. I'd bet good money on the future avaialbility of full Green Day albums or possibly even a standalone game.
"It's awesome that one of greatest bands on earth is coming to the Rock Band platform," said Paul DeGooyer, SVP, Electronic Games and Music, MTV. "Green Day is a longtime favorite of the Harmonix team, and we're very excited to provide a new way for their fans to connect with them, while at the same time helping put this incredible music in front of a whole new audience."
Once again, the Green Day Track Pack will be released on July 7, but pricing and platforms were not revealed.
We'll have more soon.
