News: Get the best shooter of this generation for $5.

Ikaruga is a vertically scrolling shooter that was originally released on the GameCube in 2003. It received mountains of good reviews and Game of the Year accolades and would go on to be one of the most well-received titles on Nintendo's purple lunchbox.

In 2008, developer Treasure re-released the game on the Xbox Live Arcade for a fantastic 800 Microsoft Points ($10). But if you haven't picked it up yet, the time is now as Ikaruga will be the Xbox Live Deal of the Week. From now until Sunday, July 19, Xbox Live Gold members will be able to download Ikaruga for 400 Microsoft Points ($5), a savings of 50% off the normal price.

If you are a fan of 2D space shooters, Ikaruga is a must play.
